Our Design Process
Discover how we transform your garden ideas into stunning outdoor spaces. From the first consultation to the final build, our structured design process ensures every detail is thoughtfully planned, beautifully crafted, and perfectly tailored to your lifestyle.
Stage 1: Consultation
We begin by visiting your property to see the garden in context and talk through your aspirations. We listen carefully to your functional and aesthetic requirements, and note potential design challenges (for example, slopes, awkward access, drainage issues). Afterward, we prepare and provide a Design Proposal that summarises your brief, outlines our process, and states the associated fees.
Stage 2: Site Survey & Concept Design
We return to perform a full topographical survey, which becomes a standalone document for your records. From that data, we develop several concept options—illustrated in 2D and 3D views. At this stage, the goal is to explore broad layout ideas rather than finalize every detail. Moodboards are used to convey materials, styles, and atmosphere, helping you visualise the direction.
Stage 3: Formal Design
Once a concept is agreed, we evolve it into a fully-fledged design. This includes detailed arrangement of elements, selection of material palettes, and specification of features like lighting, water elements, paving, and hardscape. Planting is discussed in general zones, and we use refined 3D images to bring realism to how your garden will look.
Stage 4: Technical Documentation
To turn the design into reality, we prepare comprehensive construction documentation: cross-sections, setting-out plans, detailed build drawings, and written specifications. We coordinate with landscape contractors, structural engineers, and electrical specialists to ensure that every detail is executable and accurate.
Stage 5: Planting Plan
We explore your preferences (plant types you like or dislike), and consider the maintenance level you’ll be comfortable with. Using our horticultural expertise, we assess site conditions (soil type, pH, exposure, microclimate) to propose plant species suited to thrive. We present selections with photos and moodboards so you have a clear visual reference.
Stage 6: Implementation & Build Management
With trusted landscapers and contractors, we guide the construction phase. We keep you informed of costs and budget expectations from the outset. Optionally, we provide Project Management services throughout the build, ensuring the final outcome aligns with the design vision and is delivered to a high standard.
